The Plair family were well respected citizens of the Brooklyn Community (also written as Brook Land), along West Main Street and Hagins Street in downtown Rock Hill, S.C. Their granddaughter, Cynthia Plair Roddey was the first African American graduate of Winthrop University’s Masters program and has been a educator in Rock Hill as well as elsewhere for decades. Please make the following updates:
1. The name of the community was Brook Land.
2. Cynthia was the first Afro-American student to graduate with a Masters Degree from Winthrop College. That honor belongs to Sue Meriweather Steed.
3. Change to she began her career in education in 1960.
