“A collection of historic sites and properties that no longer stand but have not been forgotten.”
S.C.’s counties abound with historic treasures and abandoned places worthy of discovery. Roots and Recall is delighted to preserve their history; delivering them on some 32,000 pages. We have selected a number of local sites which are gone. Some burned but most were destroyed by simple lack of interest in historic preservation. Enjoy perusing what once was here! Remember just click on the highlighted name!

Please enjoy this structure and all those listed in Roots and Recall. But remember each is private property. So view them from a distance or from a public area such as the sidewalk or public road.
Do you have information to share and preserve? Family, school, church, or other older photos and stories are welcome. Send them digitally through the “Share Your Story” link, so they too might be posted on Roots and Recall.
Thanks!
