The Rock Hill Record reported on March 28, 1907 – “The store room now occupied by M.B. Massey on Main Street as a grocery will soon be occupied by a first class café by Crawford and Taylor. (Mr. Thomas A. Crawford, Jr. living at 232 Hampton and his partner J.T. Taylor, John T. living at 340 East Main – the firm of Crawford – Taylor Grocery Co.)
The Record reported on Feb. 3, 1908 – “There is a change in ownership of the Crawford – Taylor Grocery Company. Mr. T.A. Crawford, Jr., has purchased the interest of Mr. J. T. Taylor and the business will now operate as the Crawford Grocery Company.”
The Record reported on Sept. 24, 1908 – “Mr. T.A. Crawford has had the interior of his store painted.”
The Record reported on Aug. 31, 1908 – “Mr. John T. Taylor, one time of the Crawford – Taylor Grocery., Co., will open a green grocer and meat market in the building now occupied by the Lyric Theater. The Palace Market will be consolidated with Taylor’s new market and Mr. Smythe of the Palace will be in charge of the meat section of the new store.”
The RH Record reported on Feb. 15, 1909 – “Mr. T.A. Crawford, Jr. has sold his grocery business to C.D. Cunningham and Mr. Crawford now has an office in the Ratterree Building, selling real estate, stocks and bonds.”
The Herald reported on July 15, 1940 – “Tucker Jewelry Co., has leased the building on Main Street to be vacated by Gable’s. Half the building will be used as the office of Dr. John P. Tucker, Optometrist. Gables is moving across the street.”
The Herald reported on Aug. 22, 1940 – “Remodeling has been completed at the Tucker Jewelry Store, which is in the rear of the building formerly occupied by Gables. The front of the old store now has offices of Dr. J.P Tucker, Optometrist.”
