City Directories and History: The Yorkville Enquirer reported on Aug. 5, 1891 – “Mr. William McGill, who lives two miles east of Hickory Grove on what is known as the Moore Plantation, has begun the erection of a large two story dwelling. He has all the material on the ground and he will put a steel roof on the house.”
