City Directories and History: 1922/23 – W.R. Fair and West End Baptist Church, 1936 – West End Baptist @#468 Hagins St.,
The RH Record reported on Nov. 3, 1908 – “West End Baptist Church was formerly organized Sunday in the cottage used by the church. Members of First Baptist, Park Baptist and Northside Baptist were present. The new church is the outgrowth of the missionary work of Ms. Ema Dowell. A lot has been purchased at the corner of Hagins and Fewell streets, and a building will be underway soon. This is the third Baptist church to be established within the city in the past two years.”
The Rock Hill Record reported on Feb. 11, 1909 – “The structure being erected for West End Baptist church on Hagins Street was blown down by a strong wind. Several workmen were on the roof but were able to escape unharmed. Only the foundation remains intact. The contractor is William Wright and J.S. Hair is the Pastor. This church was recently organized and this was its first church.”
The Herald reported on May 9, 1941 – “Ground will be broken Sunday for construction of a new building for West End Baptist Church on a new site across the street from the present wooden structure on Hagin Street. The brick auditorium will cost about $20,000. and a Sunday School Building will be built later. This church serves the Arcade and Victoria communities.”
The Herald contained an advertisement on April 9, 1942 – “for the sale, cash only, of the old West End Baptist Church building. It is described as a large well preserved frame building at the intersection of Sunset Drive and Hagins Street.”
