City Directories and History: The William Mintor house near Bullock’s Creek and Sandersville, S.C. near the Chester – York County line. It was also the home of W.L. Hill’s grandfather, the owner of Hill’s store in Sharon, SC. Mr. Mintor was a store owner prior to 1889.. The house has a S.C. mile marker stating Rutherfordton, N.C. was approximately sixty miles.
The Yorkville Enquirer reported on July 18, 1878 – “Sandersville is located in the SE part of Bullock’s Creek Township on the Chester and Rutherford road near the Chester County line. There are about 150 inhabitants within a one mile radius. There is one store, one church and a school. The church is named New Bethel but is commonly known as Fork of the Creek because it between the N and S prongs of Suzy Bowles Creeks. A steam engine does the ginning and threshing. There is no PO and residence have to go to McConnellsville for their mail.”
