City Directories and History: The Kings Creek Community is on the edge of York County near the Cherokee County line.
The Yorkville Enquire reported on Nov. 30, 1882 – “A northern company has bought the Baryte Mine on the premises of Mr. Dred Westmoreland on Kings Creek and will commence operations soon.”
The Yorkville Enquirer of June 26, 1889 reported – “A new PO has been established on the 3 C’s railroad and will be known as Kings Creek. With Albert Whisnant (Whisonant) as Postmaster.”
The Yorkville Enquirer of May 11, 1906 contained an ad for Faulkner and McElwee at Kings Creek, S.C.
