The Yorkville Enquirer reported on March 25, 1886 – “Last Monday afternoon a building near the Depot in York, which is being fitted up by Mr. T.B. McClain for a store room and art gallery was discovered to be on fire. The alarm was given and many citizens came and succeeded in extinguishing the flames before much damage was done.”
City Directories and History: On Feb. 25, 1891 the Enquirer reported, “McClain and Goforth have contracted with Mr. S.G. Robinson for the manufacture of 500,000 brick to be used in the construction of several buildings in Yorkville next summer.”
