City Directories and History: This funeral directory from the Winthrop Un. Pettus Archives is a rich history of the Wood Family of Rock Hill, S.C., a well respected fixture of local history and culture. Names of many prominent Rock Hillians are listed within its pages. Service was conducted by Saint John’s Methodist Minister, the Rev. Dr. C.C. Herbert and Dr. A.N. Gunter. Note that Mary Jane Wood had been employed for some fifty years with the National Union Bank and Equitable Insurance Company of Rock Hill, S.C. Many of the pallbearers for her were long-term employees of said companies.
Buried at Laurelwood Cemetery Oct. 3, 1945 Pallbearers for the two sisters were: Hugh Rock, Louis Hayes, Arthur Hampton, Joe McFadden, Bob Bryant, Bill Miles Fewell, E.R. Jeter, Edwin Stultz, John Holler, Ben Dunlap, William Wylie, and Otis Patton.
Relatives attending: Mrs. O.J. Rock, (Niece of the deceased and her State St. address), Jack Rock, Pauline Kerr Creed, Henrietta Creed, B.W. Creed, Tom Creed, Edna Creed and Charlie Wood (of Augusta, Ga.),
