The facades of this group of buildings, no longer resembles those from the early 20th century. Following the removal of the Town Center Mall roof from Main Street, these facades were redesigned to meet the specific needs of the Rock Hill Arts Council and their associated gallery spaces. Previously a number of businesses had been located along this stretch of Main Street including the very popular Smith’s Drug Store.
This location also housed J.J.Newberry’s Dime Store in the 1930s and the 1940s. Original occupants were Mutual Dry Goods, including a blacksmith and Miss Daisy Huey Millinery; Hasten Furniture Company and Bass Furniture Company. More recent occupants included Ray’s, OK Unclaimed Outlet, and Keith’s Shoes.
