The Herald reported on Jan. 7, 1903 – “S.C. Weston, the tailor, has removed his shop from the Toole Building, to the front room over the old Savings Bank.”
On May 2, 1903 the Herald reported, “S.C. Weston has moved his tailor shop from the saving bank building to one of the rooms in the old Dr. Fewell house on Main Street.”
The McElwee Store ledger of 1915 states that Katherine and Samuel C. Weston (an African American tailor), lived here and help an account at the store.
WU’s Pettus Archives also shows that local architect, Mr. A.D. Gilchrist drew plans for the Weston family in 1919 and revised the plans in 1921.
