CITY DIRECTORIES AND HISTORY: The long-term home of the Whitesides family from Sharon. The home is currently owned by F.W. Youngblood, Jr. the grandson of the Whitesides. The house has also been rented by Mr. Morris Montgomery, who is the son of Eddie and Hazel Montgomery.
The Rock Hill Record reported on Nov. 30, 1908 – “Mr. Wister Whiteside, formerly with Hill Banking and Mercantile Co., has opened a general mercantile store.”
The Yorkville Enquirer of Feb. 20, 1917 reported that “W.G. Hayes and J.L. Whitesides have been in the general merchandise business in Sharon for several years and has dissolved their partnership. The business will be continued by Mr. Hayes.
** It is unclear at to the location of the Whiteside’s home but this maybe the J.L. Whitesides house. Please correct if additional information is forthcoming.
