The McElwee Store ledger of 1915, states Walter H. Moore and his wife Hattie (clerk with Roddey – Poe Co.), were customers at the store.
The Herald reported on Oct. 5, 1918 – “Mr. C.S. McCrorey has resigned as manager of the Catawba Milling Company and the new manager is Mr. L.G. Huckabee.”
The Herald on Feb. 2, 1942 reported – “Mrs. Mana B. Kortjohn has moved from the home of Mrs. C.S. McCrorey at this address to the home of Mrs. Earnest Gunthrorpe at 119 Reid Street.”
In the 1960’s the original home, that of the W.H. Moore family, on this lot was demolished to make room for the Heirs – Clarkson Building. This commercial structure was demolished in 2012 by Comporium Communication to make room for a proposed development project on the corner of East Main and Elizabeth Lane.
