The Yorkville Enquirer of Nov. 6, 1906 contained an ad for J.S. Brice, attorney, with office opposite the Courthouse.
The RH Record reported on Aug. 26, 1907 – “The printing outfit including presses and type of the late Yorkville New Era newspaper was sold at auction on Saturday. The buyer was J.S. Brice, Esq. of York for a price of $150.”
Brice, John Steele, lawyer; born Chester district (now county) in 1861 ; educated in Erskine College, from which he graduated in 1883; read law in office of late Maj. Jas. F. Hart of Yorkville; admitted to the bar in 1889, and began practice at Yorkville; presidential elector from South Carolina in 1892; member of South Carolina Constitutional Convention, 1895 ; member South Carolina Senate 1890-1898; for several years has been attorney for County Commissioners of York County.
