The Record reported on Feb. 7, 1907 – “Mrs. W.W. Boyce and Mrs. E.W. Hall will receive friends next Thursday at 330 East White Street.”
The Rock Hill Record of Dec. 2, 1909 reported – “Mr. J.L. Williamson, one of Bethesda Townships most prosperous farmers, will move to Rock Hill and will occupy the Kerr Cottage on Academy Street.”
This house was built in 1905 and comprises about 2,700 square feet. The home retains most of its original woodwork, hardware and architectural features which makes it one of Reid Street’s most important historic properties. The home is architecturally highly unusual and has many elements of more commercial styling, see fits within the Shingle Style architecture page.
The SC Architects: 1885 – 1935, Wells and Dalton, 1992 reported, “the W.W. Boyce home was designed by James M. McMichael and completed in 1905 for a cost of $5,000.”
