The 1915-16 McElwee Store ledger states that Charlie Douglas (African American) and his wife Cora, held an account at the store and lived at this address.
The Fort Mill Times contained an ad on April 25, 1918 for the Catawba Milling Co., of Rock Hill – “Our flour mill in Rock Hill is in operation six days a week.”
The Herald reported on Oct. 5, 1918 – “Mr. C.S. McCrorey has resigned as manager of the Catawba Milling Company and the new manager is Mr. L.G. Huckabee.”
