City Directories and History: 1908 – William Lindsay (Pres. of Lindsay Mercantile Company), 1940 – Samuel J. Jackson, 1958 – James S. Jackson, 1978 – John E. Strickland
This lot was bought in two parcels. The first lot was bought from Mrs. Margaret Kennedy in 1854, comprising one-half acre and eleven poles. The second lot contained 48 poles and was bought from R.C. West, April 12, 1855. On this lot William T. Robinson built the house, this quaint two story house, that has always been painted white, circa 1856. The piazza rises from the street, the steps being at one end. The balusters go through the lower rail and are fastened underneath. When the house was re-floored some years ago it was found that instead of (masonry piers) it was resting on tree trunks. Originally the kitchen was in the yard. It comprised two rooms with a chimney at each end and was later moved to join the house. Old Home in Chester, SC by Mrs. John G. White.
