I am researching my family of Chester County – The Rodens – we have found the grave of John and Elizabeth outside of Chester on Baton Rouge past the Calvary Baptist Church – would be interested to make contact with other members of the family or anyone with any information on the family or the area

Hi,
I am responding to your request for information and connections to the Roden family of Chester. We would suggest contacting the Chester District Genealogy Society in Richburg, S.C., to hopefully find additional data. Their current President is Mr. Tom Mayhugh – tommayhugh@truvista.net Please acknowledge receipt of this message.

I have just begun trying to trace my Covenanter ancestors. I am being guided by an account my grandmother wrote. The first in the line, John Smith (sigh) and wife Agnes Faris, settled in the “Chester District (Rock Hill) S. Carolina in 1771.”. He was supposedly a Revolutionary War soldier, and buried in McDill cemetery. Their son, David with wife Sarah Neil, went to Indiana, around Bloomington. They and several of their children are buried in the Covenanter Cemetery there. I would appreciate any tips on where/how to start finding confirmation of their presence in South Carolina.
Thank you,
Pat

Hi,
We are in the process of updating files on R&R and the Chester site will be down for several days. Please be patient and we will certainly try and assist later in the month with your request.
