City Directories and History: 1908 – T.N. Tinsley, 1940 – Mrs. Mary H. Tinsley, 1958 – Mary H. Tinsley, 1978 – H. Wallace Tinsley
Originally built as a simple Queen Anne cottage in circa 1905, (the home shows on the 1910 Sanborn Map), this house was a gift to Mary Hafner Tinsley, the wife of drugstore owner, Theodore N. Tinsley. The operated the Standard Pharmacy at 126 Main Street, Chester, SC. The Hafner family had a long-standing tradition of house construction starting in the Bullock’s Creek area of York County where they built a substantial number of dwellings. Later the family branched out to Chester and members of the Hafner family are credited with having constructed several Chester County homes.Stay Connected
