City Directories and History: 1908 – Dr. Garnold B. White, Mrs. G.B. White, Pratt Building and Loan (120 Main Street),
According to local historians, the house design is attributable to Samuel Sloan and later owned by Dr. G.B. White, a businessmen of influence and wealth. He served as the President of the People’s Bank, the Chester Telephone Company and the Pratt Saving and Loan Association.
This house, one of Chester’s most distinguished and certainly intact historic houses from circa 1883, is reported to have been constructed by the Rev. Mason Wylie Pressly, the pastor at the Chester ARP church. Built in the Stick style, a period of architecture sandwiched between the Gothic Revival and the Stick style, this house is a major contributor to Chester’s Historic District. Resident, Mrs. G.B. White is credited with helping start the Chester Library.
