“Preservation of the McCants home in downtown Winnsboro required a move to the country….”
City Directories and history: This fine historic home, circa 1840’s, known as the McCants house, was moved to the current location by Mr. and Mrs. Richard
Johnson from downtown Winnsboro and raised on a brick foundation so similar to dozens of other Fairfield homes of the period. Also see the McCant’s house at 301 South Congress Street, Winnsboro, S.C. for additional history and images. The house was also temporarily moved to 113 West Moultrie street prior to its move to the current location.
