City Directories and History: Enhanced SCDOT maps of Chester County can be found under the MORE INFORMATION link. These maps show the county with significant historical details such as stores, churches, cross roads, and schools in the rural communities. (Old Chester County Road Maps)
Individual sections of the 1942 SCDOT road map are also available below. Chester County is divided into (18) sections beginning with the northwest corner #1, and ending with the southeastern corner #18. These individual maps may also be accessed by searching for their captions, example: Section #1, will be loaded with accompanying images.
Due to the sheer size of these PDF maps, it is best to view them on a computer. It will take a minute or more to load each – use the map feature’s plus button, found at the bottom right corner of the maps page, to enlarge the map.

Please enjoy this structure and all those listed in Roots and Recall. But remember each is private property. So view them from a distance or from a public area such as the sidewalk or public road.
Do you have information to share and preserve? Family, school, church, or other older photos and stories are welcome. Send them digitally through the “Share Your Story” link, so they too might be posted on Roots and Recall.
Thanks!
