The Rock Hill Herald reported on Aug. 19, 1880 – “Three new churches will be built soon in Chester County. They are Beaver Creek, Caper’s Chapel and New Bethel.” One Sept. 2, 1880 the paper reported – “Bricks are being laid on the grounds of the Caper’s Chapel Church and construction will start soon.”
The Herald reported on Oct. 27, 1881 – “The new Methodist Church was dedicated at Caper’s Chapel last Sunday.”

The Yorkville Enquirer reported on Aug. 12, 1880 – “Mr. J.B. Lathan’s School at this location closed for the term last week. There were 85 students in attendance. It is now proposed to make this a graded school with Ms. Lizzie Anderson as a music teacher.”
