City Directories and History: Reported to have been constructed by either Andy or Ephraim Hafner, this is another of that family’s contributions to well constructed mid 19th century homes that once dotted Chester and York counties rural areas. Andy Hafner lived within a few miles of this house, just inside of York County on Quinn road. Much of York County ‘s section has been changed to Blanton Road but it is clearly an extension of the colonial road known as Quinns.
This house has been associated for decades with the Atkinson family. Contributed to R&R 2015 – “This house was built for James Beldon Atkinson on land acquired from his grandfather James Atkinson. Family lore states his construction was at the same time period of the building of Cedarhurst on Big Spring for James Atkinson Jr. and Sicily Mobley Atkinson, James Beldon’s parents. James Beldon was 24 yrs. of age and married to Lucy Crosby from Bullocks Creek. After her death, he married Sarah Elizabeth Woods.” by Sara Floyd
