City Directories and History: 1940 – Christine F. Perry
Six generations of the same family have occupied this dwelling. It was constructed between 1855 and 1858 by George W. and Joseph E. Pickett. The Fischel family acquired the property about 1860. This was originally built as a two family house, containing four rooms on each floor, two on each side. There were two inside staircases located on each side near the outside walls. The sills are bolted with hand forged bolts. Joists are mortised and pegged together with hand wrought pegs. Today the house has ten rooms and a central hall and stairway.
