The Yorkville Enquirer reported on Oct. 12, 1887 – “Mr. J.H. McDaniel, a member of the S.C. Legislature, had the misfortune of loosing his dwelling and outbuilding to fire. It began in the roof of the kitchen.”
City Directories and History: Historic farm home near Hopewell A.R.P. Church, it appears to date to the first quarter of the 20th century. The owner recently stated the house was constructed for John McDaniel in 1905, who like his son, Lewis McDaniel were large diary farmers.
In 1818 the land belonged to William Hemphill but by 1834 it had been acquired by Samuel Boyd.
This home burned in ca. 2020.
