Constructed in circa 1880, this original wood shop, with its front chamfered posts, recessed double door entrance and transoms remains one of downtown’s architectural gems. Thomas Leitner operated his drug store here in 1908 followed by other drugs stores as shown in the list above. H. E. McConnell, M.D., had his office in rear of this location and in the 1920’s L. W. Rodgers, Inc., the first chain store grocery in Chester was at this location.
