Built in circa 1896 for perhaps Woods and Brice Drug Store, this location by 1908, was housing Abraham Balser’s dry goods and
grocer. Mr. Abraham Balser was a very prosperous merchant and lived at 145 West End Street, one of Chester’s best addresses with this family including his
wife Rebecca E. Balser. This site was also used as the City Pressing Club on the second floor. The Balser family also had the Balser Building at 137 Main Street.
