City Directories and History: The little community in Northeastern Lancaster Co…., nearly forgotten but for the works of Louise Pettus’s Nearby History articles.
The Rock Hill Herald reported on Oct. 4, 1888 – “The Georgia Carolina and Northern RR is building depots along the new ralline. They just finished a large depot at Waxhaw and are now building one here at Osceola and will soon build one at the station on the River Road, for which there is no name at this time. At Osceola, there are two business houses going up. One is by Mr. Seacrest and one by J.R. Starnes and Brother. The Starnes Firm will by cotton.”
The Rock Hill Herald reported on Nov. 22, 1902 – “Ms. Mattie R. White has gone to Osceola where she has gone to take charge of a flourishing school.”
