Shiloh Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church is located three miles north of Lancaster and one-half mile east of Highway 521. The first church building is believed to have been log and was burned in a forest fire. This building, shown circa 1850, was probably built about 1809 and was extensively renovated in 1967. The original church was an auxiliary of Waxhaw Presbyterian Church called Black Jack Station. In 1802, the Waxhaw congregation split over the matter of whether Watts’s or Rouse’s version of the Psalms should be used in the service. Black Jack Station was changed to Shiloh. The pre-Civil War membership was considerably reduced by western emigration. Unfortunately, many of the church records were lost when Sherman’s troops came through the county.
