City Directories and History: Two story frame residence built circa 1890. The house was built and occupied by the Hughes family for many years. It was reported to have the largest ballroom in Lancaster. The landscaping is set in a Victorian pattern with seven oaks in the front and seven in the back. In 1919, a party was held for the Prime Minister of France, Georges Clemenceau, and General Palmer E. Pierce, who was visiting the home of Steve Williams, Sr. which was located next door. Mr. Williams was the Provost Marshall in France during World War I.
