City Directories and History: First National Bank building constructed in 1907.
The Rock Hill Record reported on May 13, 1907 – “Dr. J.F. Mackey of Lancaster will have a handsome business house erected on his vacant lot at the corner of Main and Gay Street. The building will be two story brick, 100 – 50 ft., the offices for the First National Bank will be on the first floor and a town hall or opera house on the second. The contract has been given to Mr. McManus of Columbia.”
The Rock Hill Record reported on Aug 22, 1907 – “A new and important enterprise has been announced in Lancaster. It is the Lancaster Saving Bank and Trust Company. Incorporates are: R.C. Wylie, T.S. Carter, J.D. Funderburke, E.M. Croxton, Ira B. Jones, and Charles D. Jones. The offices will be located in the Mackey Building new being constructed.”
