City Directories and History: Constructed by Leroy Springs in 1905, the Springs Block, with commercial space and the Hotel Royal on the second floor. Part of the Lancaster Downtown Historic District.
The RH Record reported on Oct. 8, 1908 – “Mr. S.W. Mitchell of Lancaster has bought the Nicholson Hotel at the Chester Depot from Mr. A.N. Sample. Mr. Mitchell is presently running the Hotel Royal in Lancaster. He has rented the McCarley cottage adjoining the hotel property and will occupy it with his family.”
