City Directories and History: This was once a fine home on Highway 215, in the community known as the “Dark Corner” of Fairfield County, or the Feasterville community. The house was in ruins in 1983 when photographed by the historic survey team and gone completely by 2000. It had once belonged to Dr. William Preston Calhoun Coleman (1834-1863), but had later received significant architectural updates in the late 19th century, altering its earlier appearance as a simple Greek Revival farm house to more of a shingled Victorian cottage appearance.
The second set of images is of the Dr. Robert Coleman home in the same vicinity, remains standing until ca. 1995.

Please enjoy this structure and all those listed in Roots and Recall. But remember each is private property. So view them from a distance or from a public area such as the sidewalk or public road.
Do you have information to share and preserve? Family, school, church, or other older photos and stories are welcome. Send them digitally through the “Share Your Story” link, so they too might be posted on Roots and Recall.

My father and his twin brothers were born in the Fee home. All of the children were born there. Also, I , Joan Fee Hawk was born in the Fee house in 1934. Thank you..
By any chance, were either of these homes beside the Coleman Cemetery?

No, I presume you are asking about the Coleman cemetery off Clowney Rd. There is another Coleman burial grounds off Ashford Ferry Rd. and Coleman graves are in every rural cemetery in that area of Fairfield County. For information on burials, contact the genealogy research room of the Fairfield County Museum at fairfieldgenealogy@truvista.net.
