City Directories and History: Reported to be the John Leitner home of the Bethel – Greenbrier community of Fairfield County. This dwelling appears to have been constructed in the 1850’s on the eve of the Civil War during a prosperous period when farmers were building both massive mansions and common dwellings such as the Leitner home to simply provide living space for a more
consumer oriented lifestyle. Note the home once had a lovely picket fence around it as well as an open “dog-trot” through the middle of the first floor as well as a very handsome front porch.
