City Directories and History: The Stevenson home was constructed in the Greek Revival style so very popular with planters on the eve of the Civil War.
This home is reported to have been built in circa 1856 for Robert Murdock Stevenson, a planter of note, living next to Alexander Douglass at Albion, their two homes have little in common. For over one hundred and twenty years the Stevenson family lived and lovingly maintained this nice antebellum home.
