Winthrop Un.’s Pettus Archives has extensive drawing for Dr. C.S. McCants from 1942-43 by Rock Hill architect, Mr. A.D. Gilchrist. It is unclear as to what these plans apply.
City Directories and History: 1961 – Winn Dixie Store
Historically, the McCants home and several others lined South Congress street where the Winn Dixie Store and later the Dodge Dealership opened on the corner. The McCants home was first moved to the rear of the lot at 113 West Moultrie Street. Later it was moved in sections to a new rural location near White Oak, at 3811 Turkey Creek Road and fully remodeled as a raised basement cottage.

Please enjoy this structure and all those listed in Roots and Recall. But remember each is private property. So view them from a distance or from a public area such as the sidewalk or public road.
Do you have information to share and preserve? Family, school, church, or other older photos and stories are welcome. Send them digitally through the “Share Your Story” link, so they too might be posted on Roots and Recall.
