City Directories and History: This house, as well as the one beside it to the east which originally had the same floor plan, was built in 1923 by a gentleman named Mac Stewart. He was rumored to have enjoyed a drink or two, and this may be evident as there are very few true right-angles in the structure. It was originally owned by a Mr. Willingham who may have owned several houses in the immediate area. It was purchased in 1943 by James R. (Jim) Curlee and his wife Elizabeth (Lib) who owned the Western Auto Associate Store on Congress Street for 30 years. It is still in the Curlee family today.
