City Directories and History: Constructed in the early Queen Anne-Victorian style, this charming one story house sites outside of Winnsboro behind two extremely old oak trees. The pair of trees, believed to be Pen Oaks, appear to be as old as the home itself, circa 1880 and provide a warm welcome to visitors. The house retains most of its architectural features. The original siding is exposed on the front porch, Victorian era front doors, hardware, and scrolled ornamentation both on the columns as well as eve brackets, and bead-board ceilings combine to enhance this home’s architectural merit.
The interior of the home is no less authentic. One unusual feature of the house is the rear door entrance and side lights were incorporated into the home when it was expanded and the doors, moldings, mantels and even sloping rear porch (now a hallway) lend themselves to make this dwelling an inviting Winnsboro treasure. Families long associated with this home include the Bray family, F.M. Roddey, J.R. Goudelock, and William F. Goudelocks.
