HELPFUL HINTS AND INFORMATION
I. Eliminate many search headaches by simplification. R&R is an address-driven database consisting of thousands of pages on properties and images. Searches can be performed by using a portion of an address, street name, street number, individual’s last name, subject, or title. (Do not use abbreviations.) Instead of using “Frank S. Warner” as the search criteria, just type in “Warner.” Instead of using “2702 Smith Street” as the criteria, simplify the search with “2702” or “Smith Street.” If you are looking for “Saint James Episcopal Church,” just enter “Episcopal” and R&R will find it quickly.
II. The website features properties normally fifty years old or older. In many cases, where an entire street or area is being loaded to the website, newer homes are featured. A house that is less than fifty years old may not yet be posted on R&R.
III. Currently, each county is set up as an individual database; therefore each must be searched independently. R&R will not retrieve data across county lines for individuals who may have moved from one location to another. In the future, R&R will offer the option of searching across county and state lines, but in 2013 this feature is unavailable.
IV. Tags at the bottom of each post are searchable and highly useful tools. If a subject or name appears in the tag line list, which is marked in orange at the bottom of each page, click on the name, and any page associated with that name in that particular county will be displayed. R&R attempts to record the names of individuals uniformly, but “Robert Smith” might also be listed as “Robert J. Smith” and R&R may not have sufficient knowledge to list them as one and the same individual. It is highly suggested, therefore, that users submit Smith as the search criteria and then determine if that individual is listed more than once.
V. Tour numbers may appear random due to local tour brochures adding and dropping locations. You are not missing sites by skipping from #4 to #7 on the R&R tour schedule. You have the option of taking the tour completely on R&R or using R&R as a supplement to enhance the local tour maps from local chambers of commerce, museums or visitors’ centers. You can also use your smart phone or iPad to take the tour. It works great!
VI. The More Information> link found at the bottom of the picture column lists additional data or an image related to the page. The More Information> link is not normally visible when the field is empty.
VII. Weather conditions, internet service and other factors may affect loading the R&R’s database. Be patient for large images and information to download.
