City Directories and History: 1910/1911 – City Directory, 1920/1921 – City Directory (see both Union City Directories as PDF’s under the respective City Directory.)
Confederate veteran, Mr. George W. Smith (1844 – 1926) was a successful contractor in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Most of his buildings date between 1898 and 1920. He constructed a variety of small mill houses as well as elegant dwellings for Union’s upper middle class in fine neighborhoods. Constructed in circa 1910.
Please enjoy this structure and all those listed in Roots and Recall. But remember each is private property. So view them from a distance or from a public area such as the sidewalk or public road.
Do you have information to share and preserve? Family, school, church, or other older photos and stories are welcome. Send them digitally through the “Share Your Story” link, so they too might be posted on Roots and Recall.
