Local contractor and Confederate veteran, Mr. George W. Smith (1844 – 1926) was a successful builder in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Most of his buildings date between 1898 and 1920. He constructed a variety of small mill houses as well as elegant dwellings for Union’s upper middle class in fine neighborhoods. Constructed in circa 1915.
