City Directories and History: Originally constructed in the mid 1850s, by local merchant W. A. Hennon of Saint Matthews, this was a grand antebellum home of the period. By the early 20th
century local businessman, R.D. Zimmerman purchased the house and began plans to remodel it in the current popular style, the Neoclassical Revival period. The transformation of this fine home was completed by ca. 1908.
