City Directories and History: “In 1860 John F. Chaplin purchased the house from John S. Fyler, owner store on Bay Street. The house has been in the Chaplin family ever pearl amity button in the newel post bears the date 1843, indicating house was paid for in that year. It is not known for whom the house was The frame house is built on high brick piers placed about eight feet Three dormer windows extend from the gable roofed residence. Windows nine over nine (9/9) lights with exterior shutters.”
