The Downtown Anderson Historic District has added information on the city’s heritage and this building. A Victorian commercial building constructed in 1891 after being established in 1882.
An interview with Eunice Sullivan Pracht tells of the history of the Sullivan Hardware Company (see link this page), and so much of Anderson’s interesting history. She states as part of the interview that the hardware company was started by James Mattison Sullivan and his cousin Charlie M. Sullivan. At one time she explains the store operated in six locations and five of the Sullivan brothers were engaged in the hardware company. Her own father, Mr. Jake Sullivan operated the business as Pres. for some seventeen years.
