The Yorkville Enquirer reported on Feb. 13, 1873 – “Dr. Javan Bryant has been appointed postmaster in Spartanburg.”
The Yorkville Enquirer reported on July 17, 1873 – “The dwelling house and kitchen of Mr. Hillard Hill near Cross Anchor were destroyed by fire. All the contents were lost and the loss is $1,000.”
The Yorkville Enquirer reported on July 9, 1885 – “Spartanburg County court tried a colored man named Enoch Foster on the charge of arson for burning the Fingerville Cotton Factory. He was acquitted.”
