City Directories and History: “On a road leading from Trinity Church to Barksdale is a very old house which has been well preserved by its owners down through the years. The date of construction is not known, but the Leland Bolts of Portland, Oregon, have in their possession land deeds signed by John Williams in 1811 and again in 1825. Margaret Bolt Dial, wife of Andrew T. Dial, was Leland Bolt’s aunt, and it is believed by family members that the “Drew” Dial house was built on land covered by one of these deeds.
Andrew Dial was the second superintendent of education in Laurens County. He died in 1876, while in office. Mrs. Dial then made her home with a sister, a Mrs. Ball, until her death in 1912. John Hunter, a nephew of Andrew Dial, came into possession of the place before the turn of the century and raised dairy and beef cattle. In the late
1920’s Hunter returned to his former home near Mount Pleasant Church below Coldpoint.
In 1928 M. B. Abrams bought, from the Federal Land Bank, the old home with sixty acres of land, where he has continued to live since the death of Mrs. Abrams in 1971.”
