“The ante-bellum home of the Bryson family is located on State Highway 221, five miles to the north of Laurens. The home was bought some 150 years ago by William Bryson shortly after it had been built.
When Mr. Bryson’s wife died, a daughter, Isabella Bryson, took over the management of the home. When she was married to S. H. Fleming, the young couple resided in the Bryson house so that the younger members of Isabella’s family might remain together. Doctor R. H. Bryson, beloved bachelor country doctor, made his home there until his death.
Rosabelle Fleming League, daughter of Isabella and S. H. Fleming and grand-daughter of William Bryson, is married to Jake League. The Leagues have enjoyed the handsome and comfortable country place where Mrs. League was born and reared.
Mr. League is well known in the area for his interest in municipal affairs and for the outstanding gun collection which he sold recently.”
