City Directories and History: In 1922 the building next to the ally was being used as a dry goods store and a telephone exchange. It was listed as #116 North Broad Street. Constructed in the late 19th century this handsome building was the featured in the 1930 photograph, “Wide-Awake Clinton.”
The Sanborn Map shows this location being used as the Telephone Exchange Building as well as the meeting rooms for the local Lodge. Note attached post card also shows the building prior to modernization.
