City Directories and History: This building was originally constructed as the Cross Hill United Methodist church. It was later acquired for use as the Cross Hill Masonic Lodge which had originally been in one of the brick building on Main Street. Note on the attached 1928 Sanborn Map, the location of both the Cox home next door and that of the church building. Also, across the street were a number of commercial businesses that also show on the second Sanborn Insurance Map of 1928.
